Gamer's Edge Winter-een-mas LAN (Jan 27-28 )

What:

Winter-een-mas LAN Party!
Winter-een-mas is a holiday of sorts. More specifically, it is a celebration of video games and the people that play them. Video games allow us to do things, go places, see stuff, which we couldn't do in real life. They can be an escape from reality, a release after a long day, a fun activity with friends, or just an enjoyable way to pass time. They give us a lot of entertainment. So why shouldn't they be celebrated?

Where:

Gamer’s Edge located at 506 Dundas St in downtown Woodstock, Ontario Canada.

Steep price. what are the prizes that would justify such and economic investment on my part?

Is there an alternate price if I opt out of eligibility of winning anything?

Info for you

if you figure its $5 and hour for someone to play at Gamer's Edge and you get 20 hours of time to play at the lan then that alone would be $100 for the time so you save $50 just for that if you use one of our computers. (I know there will be a few people who play all night to get the max number of hours gaming lol )

Second everyone else besides you guys has to have a mebership to sign and reserve a spot so that is $25 more that you dont have to spend that everyone else has to.

For the free tournys we will have posters, t-shirts ATI and Gamer's Edge, free time to be won in the future, stickers, bawls (Drinks and Swag), whatever ATI/AMD sends our way and support your friends and have a good time at a lan party you don't have to run or help out with. (a lot of people here play wow and cod2 so you know its gonna rock)

Nope it is a cover fee to cover the cost of this event it just so happends that prizes are apart of this fee. Sorry.
Just bring your own comp and pay $30 to keep the cost down.

What about those of us who cant afford to pay those fees...and dont have copies of the games? Does that mean I can no longer come to lan parties? Or just this one?

This is just a Gamer's Edge event I am posting... this is to let you know about it but it is ment for the public and not just our crew.. we will still have the free ones at mikes house and so on but I am just posting these events so you know about them and can show up if you want to or are able to..

as for games we will not inforce the "you have to own the games" for you guys. if you have the games copyed and cracked and so on we will let it slide but just dont go around telling everyone in the store you dont own the game.

and last but not least
The price is set for everyone and it covers the power and events being held. it is only $30 if you bring your own computer so to keep cots down for you guys I would suggest that option.. but if you dont have a computer or unable we will have the ones we own but they may be full from our members.. Every person that enters the door is eligible for possable cash prizes and all prizes that I talked about in my second post to bob.

Side note: Gamer's Edge will be hosting a 1 lan per month and I will be posting it here to let you know what is going on and this is in no way redneck beatdown.

So does this mean that here will be no more free LAN parties at the store?

IE. Mikes will still be the de-facto LAN party place, and this is a viral marketing attempt on the part of gamers edge :D

yah something like that lol

so it turns out in order to run a store you need to pay rent... who knew... so in order to pay rent, free lan partys = no money and in turn = Gamer's Edge shut down and ken, gray, nate all living on the streets.

and I am always willing to try something new....
but if I dont have to... I think I will try to avoid going bankrupt becuase I cant pay rent on the business lol

so we can do lan partys during the week when we are slow but right now on weekends I dont think we can do free ones for the crew. Problem is we bring in a big part of our money on those days (thurs, fri and sat)

i guess its one of those cant win em all things huh?

I bore witness to the guys first COD2 tourney today, yesterday i mean. Fun was had by all. The kids were having a good time. Met some cool people. Played Superman on the big screen (It was super. ba-doom-ching!). Shot rabbits with toilet plungers. Perforated some nazis. Congrats guys on success.

Oh ya to clear this up. The guys aren't highjacking the LANs. They're just telling us about theirs. They won't be hurt if we don't go, they just won't be able to come to ours for a good long while til the store is fully off the ground.

at this point we are able to pay the bills and have a little extra but in the last few days with the snow things have been a little slow so with the lan we hope to bring sales way up for the end of the month.

we find toony tuesdays and fri sat are the busy days (although this tues was dead.. not sure why)
