Hey, would anyone like to go to the AMD Tech Tour with me here in Toronto? It happens on May 18th. Usually, whenever you go you have a pretty good chance of winning shiat. A guy I know won an Opteron last year. Lemme know if any of you guys can make it.

Well, they do give out prizes plus sweet bundle deals. Here were last years:
Desktop Bundle - Price=$250
— AMD Athlon™ 64 processor 3200+ 939 pin
— Asus A8N-E Socket 939 motherboard
— Microsoft® Windows® XP x64 Edition
Server Bundle - Price=$500
— 2 - AMD Opteron™ 246 CPUs
— Tyan Thunder K8SD Pro (S2882-D) motherboard
— Microsoft Server 2003 x64 Edition
At that time, the cpu alone cost that much. You'll also note that Opteron 246's are still going for around $250 a piece. Essentially, with the bundles you pay for the cpu and get the mobo and OS for free.
Oh, and there's free food.

Yeah, to sign up you're *supposed* to be a member of a computer company. If Teletech has given you a business card, bring it and say that you are investigating new computers for your company. I'm just gonna pay the $3 or $5 to make up one. I figure I'll eat enough free food to break even so it all works out in the end
If you are able to come and don't have a business card, tell me and I'll make one up for ya.

Usually they're held later in the day (ie. from 4 in the afternoon onward). Dunno if that helps you, though.

well, since Teletech is holding back the Level 3 shift bid indefinitely, I am totally in.

Awesome. We all might wanna spend the $6 and make business cards (you're supposed to be there representing a business). If you already have one from Teletech, you're gold. I'm not sure how buying the bundles work. I have heard from some people you need to buy in advance--others say you can buy there.
Either way, ya get free food and a chance to hang out.

Maybe I should throw a LAN to break in my new apartment.

Excellent. What else would you guys like to do? There's plenty of LAN cafe's kicking around. Not to mention the rest of Toronto
I open for just about anything.
