Like I said before when Nvidia announced it, Half-Life will prolly be announced this year.

Here's the cover of the next Edge comp mag:

Gonna be an interesting E3 this year folks. HL2, Doom III, Unreal Warfare (???), World of Warcraft, Galaxies, Breed, Kreed, and the schtick we don't even know about.

We'll see. I choose to remain the eternal skeptic, just because someone has to.

W00t, w00t! E3's gonna be excellent this year.

In case you haven't seen the new HL2 image, here it is:

Yeah, a bit blurry. It was rumoured that Valve bought engine rights to the Q3 engine. If they did, what I'm seeing looks like a job well done. If it's still with the Quake 1 engine..................it was to be expected

Newest info says:

- Half-Life 2 will be released on September 30th, 2003
- Gordon went to work for the G-Man
- Setting is in European like city called City 17
- No cut scenes

W00t! If the release date is right, I guess I'm gonna have to take back all the comments I made about Valve sitting on their bums and doing nuttin', eh?

Here's a summary from
http://www.gamershell.com/news_bHalf-Li ... orma.shtml :

"Half-Life 2 (full name) has been in development since late 1998, ever since Valve has released the original Half-Life. The reason for secrecy? They knew how much the game would mean to their fans, and that's why they wanted to make it perfect before anyone would know about it. The good part is that the game will be in stores... on September 30, 2003. It will be available through both retailers and Valve's recently launched pay-per-download client, Steam.

Half-Life 2 takes place in a Eastern European city, called City 17. It happens a short time after the end of the first game. Earth is once again under attack by aliens from Xen, and you, Gordon Freeman (now working for a secret government agency) have to save the day. Valve promises 12 chapters and almost 40 hours of gameplay.

The game is powered by Valve's in-house developed graphics engine, called Source. The specs of the graphics engine sound very impressive, and Half-Life 2 is sure to give Doom 3 a run for its money. Even more impressive is the scalability of this engine - while to take full advantage of it an Athlon 2Ghz with a GeForce 4 will be needed, the game will be able to run on a P3-700 powered by a DX6 compatible video card.

Unfortunately due to copyright laws we are not allowed to scan any screenshots from the respective magazines, but you can be sure that we'll keep you posted on the possible Best Game of 2003 during and after E3. The articles also hint that Half-Life 3 is planned as well... Interesting times ahead."

Yah well, Valve scrapped the first embodiment of half-life and started fresh, before. I wouldnt get too uppity about the release date since they might do it again. As far as Im concerned they have been sitting on their asses until I see a demo or solid proof. Of course if this does get finished by the date and lives up to the original, its still no excuse for letting TF2 get so far behind. We shall see how this turns out, but Im still being skeptical.
