Just in case you were wondering:

Agent or Xnews is good for reading text such as groups like "tor.forsale.computer".

Newsleecher, Newsbin Pro or Grabit is the tool to download binaries from groups like "alt.binaries.best.mp3".

Comment on torrents vs. usenet:
LOL. Usenet is like the internets version of fight club. All the free services I tried sucked, but YMMV.

I'm only going to tell you my way, if you don't like my way, find someone else to help you.

#1: go to easynews.com and get an account
#2: go to secure.members.easynews.com/global4
#3: search
#4: right click, download files

If you want to start downloading multiple files, there are a couple more steps. Easynews lets you check off the files you want and copy them to a queue. You can access your queue at secure.members.easynews.com/zipmanager.html Download, clear your queue, repeat. Each queue = 1 zip file

Newzbin is another service that allows you to search through a filtered list of available files, it's about $30 a year. You download NZB's from newzbin and upload them into the zipmanager at the link above.

follow my instructions, then figure out the minutiae on your own (you'll learn to love parviewer). its easy. linux iso's everywhere!

in my experience, usenet is the best for newer stuff, old stuff you'll probably want to keep your torrent accounts active.
