Hey all: My sister is looking for a half-decent budget PC for 500-600 bucks. Any ideas on what she could get for that? She won't need a high-end video card, it's just a work PC.

Does this include peripherals, like a moniter and a printer?
Or just the box...and maybe a keyboard and mouse.

Just the box. 17 in monitor, mouse and keyboard will be held over from the old Compaq.

A64 2800+ $158
Asus KN8 $99

512 ddr 400 $54
video cards:
MX 4000: $37
ATI 9550 :$85
FX 5200 $50
Towers: $30~
so for an
A 64 2800+
512 ddr 400
KN8
9550
Case
will cost about $440
the mobo has onboard lan and 8 channel audio
for a budget box this has got a bit of power... just my opinion of course the vid card has a lot of flex and so does the proc if you want to flirt with the 600 mark

I pretty much agree with Tempus only switch to this motherboard:
DFI Lanparty UT nF3 250Gb
$32 more, but a better board.

Didn't Chopper have a Lanparty board and hate it? I'm just sayin' what I've heard hasn't been positive.

Didn't Mike have an entire computer built by Jason and hate it? I'm just sayin', what I've heard hasn't been positive.

Oh, fark off. Dempsey got a board that came out in the first two months of production that were proven to not overclock well. All later revisions did. The board works perfectly if you keep everything stock. But I'm sure you already knew that.
Hell, Dempsey should sell his board to Paragon at a discount and then go get the other board I recommended. It solves both of their problems at the same time.

You had problems with it ONLY when attempting to overclock it. It works fine when everything is just run stock.

I'm sorry, but if I get that cursed piece of circutry for my sis, I'll never hear the end of it if it crashes.
And you need to reformat anyways Dempsey

I'd try an "As Is" then sale. If interested, PM me. I'm gonna be selling a kick @$$ case soon so I'll just add it to my thread.
