One of the dumbest things I've ever seen...

Ok, if anyone here likes to cook, or more to the point, likes cooking shows, don't take this the wrong way. I walked through another room just a minute ago, and there was a cooking program on TV. Ok, there's nothing abnormal about people trying to expand their pallets, but what I saw was disturbing. The cook was talking about the dishes as he was making them, and when he would say something like, "you can see the richness of the flavours," or, "you can smell the rosemary," the people would applaud. As someone seeing this from the outside it looked more like a cooking cult than an educational experience, especially as they would applaud so enthusiasticly at completely rediculous/pointless moments. Either someone was having fun with the applause sign, or they were all nuts.
As far as I'm concerned, if you're going to applaud the chef, then you do it after you have tasted the quisine, not as he's describing/cooking it.
