Downloading System

Hey Hey
I was thinking about all of the files I upload to KalNetFiles and I was considering posting a few things that might be controversial

The problem is KNF is an open site, no login needed. This means that I could protect access to certain files with logins, but that is a bit of a pain.

The second option is that I can add a mod, similar to the album mod that would allow us to put files directly onto the Message board. I would then be able to protect the files found there the same way I protect the privet members forum.

I have the MOD working on our test board, I would like a little feedback on what you all think.

Also, with this mod it is possible for all of you to upload files as well. This would, I guess make KNF obsolete...

Anyway Comments Please

Keep the critical programs, such as SSH, on Kalnet files.

All the "mexcian" files, put in a private section of the messageboard.

Best of both worlds.

Do you think there is much point in that? I mean I can recreate the structure that exists on KNF, here... do you think that I should bother to maintain 2 site?....

Well, honestly, all I care about is SSH on Kalnet Files because it allows me to quickly grab it for installation on any computer I use without having to remember a URL on my part.

Yes, I'm that lazy.

If it's easier to just do the messageboard version, then do that. I do have an older copy on the RaVeN webspace.

ah, I see what you mean, the ssh aspect would not be possible with the new system. With that in mind, it would be a simple matter to leave critical files on the other site. Most of them are Small anyway, duplication would not be a problem.

The bigger stuff, movies, RPG Books and such would be hosted only on the MB side. But I doubt people use sftp to grab that anyway.

Actually, I've only used SFTP to download the files from Kalnetfiles.

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about SSH interaction between computers.

I merely like Kalnet files because it provides a HTML link for me to click to download the SSH installer so I can put it on any computer I desire. I think you understand that, but I wanted to be sure.

Well you would still be able to do that if the files were on the message board. Only certian files would lock out. Others, anyone could download

Kewl.

Actually, it doesn't really matter because I do have the SSH URL on RaVeN memorized.
