KalNet Message Board

For anywho remeber the old message board (b^2) I have recently found a converter that will bring the old data into the phpBB2 system. If there is a demand for such a thing, I will look into it.

If I do bring the data over, there are several ways of intergrating the data.

1. Direct convertion into the exitsing Forums.
2. Creation of a second Archive fourm in which sub fourms would create the old board.

I will of course remove the pointless post that made up the final hours of the old board.

What do you all think?

Which is easier? That pretty much determines my vote.


Though, archival with the craziness at the end would be cool.

the same, the difficulty lies in getting it two work. I would test it on a blank database first. It should only take about two hours to work out.

The documentation explains how to map old name to new ones so that is rather simple.

I'd say archive then. It was a thing of the past that may still be useful for information. People posting in it, though, might be weird (overlapping themes already present here, etc.).

I think Archival form would be the best way to bring it back...
We should remember the past as it was... The past...

Besides, its just easier to filter stuff out that way.

I also vote archival...and it seems to be the way the majority of the crowd is leaning.

I cant actually back any of this up... I say give it a week or two, depending on workload of the Bob.

I have to retreive the Hard Disk from Augustus which is at home. I heading that way in Febuary on march break. I am going to setup all of the test stuff before then. So I would say mid to late march.

Tell me when you are at home and perhaps i can come and see those fish tanks
