running apps

i'm trying to host a rocket arena server on mandrake with KDE3.2 but I double click the what used to be the launch for the server nothing happens

i'm confused how to launch things in linux

First off, don't bother with icons. Waste of time. The GUI is mearly for opening more then 6 consoles lol.

Open up a shell, cd into the Q3 folder, then ./q3ded -game ra3

When you get it all configed with the arena.cgf and the system.cfg , you can make a "sh" script. The all you have to do is type q3-ra.sh

Read the readme file that came with q3, it has all the CMD options that are Linux based

PS. all this might seem over complicated, but it is all quite simple. At the Gentoo party I can explain in more detail. Or over the phone, message board tag makes this a little difficult :lol:

Well, it can be done. You can setup an Icon to execute the sh script I mentioned above.
Also, did you enable the Windows style KDE? because it is a single click in KDE, much faster then that double clicking crap. lol

when I put on single click in windows I hated it
I like double clicking
