Mortgage the farm, folks cuz I'm buying an Nvidia card

Well, I haven't mortgaged the farm..................but I did buy an Nvidia card.


Research and ideas presented in this thread ( http://kalnet.kalshadowtech.com/php/php ... light=5800 ) along with the success in this thread ( http://kalnet.kalshadowtech.com/php/php ... puter+geek ) prodded me to buy an Asus 5800 video card. When done being softmodded, I'll have myself a Quadro 2000. After overclocking it, I'll have a Quadro 2500 (which, technically, doesn't exist, but I feel safe in saying that the card will run at about the same level as a Quadro 3000).

I haven't installed it yet, because I'm running short on time. The Firedevil pictured below didn't answer the door for the delivery man after she was hung over.

Thus, I had to go out to Etobicoke to pick it up. I found out that I needed photo id that corresponded to the delivery address. I, obviously, don't have anything for Toronto. So I had to "borrow" a letter from Ryerson, creatively make up a letter from one of my profs, have him sign it (I swear he himself signed it....................), mail it to myself express, and then go get my card.

I'll post tomorrow what it's like.

Nice...although that's not the complete dustbuster is it? Looks like second generation. I thought the original ones had the vaccume actually draw air in from the back panel.

Anyway, it's still really cool, you should post an audio clip for the full effect.

Nope, the 5800 Ultra had the intake thinger. This is the non-Ultra. Pics here for the Ultra:

It's funny because the Quadro 2000 runs with a core/mem the same as the non-Ultra while the Quadro 1000 runs at even slower ratings. Seeing as how the non-Ultra often clocked near to the Ultra, it'll be like having a Quadro 2500.

Asus might have put a cooler fan on it, but I doubt it. Holding the card is like holding a brick. The massive factor is pretty cool.

How well should the Card perform in games? on par with say a 5900 or greater than that?

It's an older card so faster than a 9700 pro without aa/af, but slower with it on. So, yeah, basically at the speeds of a 5900/5900XT.
