I just thought this belonged here.
As for the ads, anyone who is willing to put up ads in their city should post in here. For the next two weeks we will be focusing on single page, black and white ads to be placed on Telephone polls, Buildings, Store fronts, and Display Boards at Grocery stores, Universities, etc.....
I'll be sending the ads out on Wednesday, or you can get a hard copy from me this weekend. I think most of us have access to a photo copier with pretty cheap copies so this is probably the best way to make new copies. You can make them on what ever color paper you want (the cheaper the better)....if you want, feel free to try a few colors and pick the one that looks best. I think most of the ones here in Waterloo will be on standard white paper.
The current target is around 1000 ads in each city (Waterloo, London, Toronto (possibly more in TO), Windsor). Everyone will be re-imbursed the price of the copies, plus somthing extra for their time.

Have you printed up and test black and white copies? Cuz, from just looking at it, the definition between the KW: Beatdown and image behind it is pretty poor. It's (probably) not going to stand out very well. I think you'd have better results if the 3-d embossing around the letter was made pure white (or a REALLY light shade of grey). Just my $0.02
I'll get on this tomorrow as today is pretty busy for me.

We've made several black and white copies and because the background image is faded, blurred, and partially transparent, in conjunction with the close to white embossing the letters stand out well.
If you make a few copies and there seems to be a problem let me know and I can make some adjustments.
Assemble your team, KW:Beatdown is here.

Well. due to the cost you may wanna consider prints like the Triad, school newspapers, or kidnapping Conrad Black's wife and making ads part of the payoff demands. Either of these will most likely suffice.

I would say that almost no one who goes to LAN parties reads the paper, I don't mean actually no one, but cost vs. audience reached with a news paper is not that good.

True.
Perhaps you can get something on the New PL for a minimal price?

That's actually a really good idea as they have that "What's Going On" segment all the time. It's free and it gives you a quick mention after the news. I dunno what CTV has that's similar--if at all.

Newspapers are great but like Nik mentioned they really don't reach our target demographic at all. The cost per person reached is far to prohibitive. The same is true with radio.
Everyone pitching in is a great idea, that's what this thread is all about. Word of mouth is our strongest (and cheapest

) form of advertising.

This would be great but I've already been through this with Rogers television. These kind of "free" spots are only available to not for profit organizations or community groups. I'll try to add the beatdown here but I really doubt it will be approved.
