My friend AJ just gave me a Sun JavaStation. It is so cool. I think I should have it up and running in a few hours. Saddly I have little time at the present to work on this.
I am going to use it as a remote Graphical Control Interface for my Server Cluster. Yes I also may have a much much larger server cluster! If this goes through, the existing machines I have will become NAS Machines! I love Rackmounts!
I will post pics and Stats when I find a actual press release about it.
edit:
100Mhz MicroSPARC IIep chip
64Megs of RAM.
IGS C1682 framebuffer, capable of 1280x1024@80Hz in 24-bit "true color".
on-board audio Crystal CS4231
Sun HappyMeal 10/100 Mbps The Krups unit gives off so little heat that there are no onboard cooling fans, making the Krups a dead-silent machine.

I have now discovered the meathod of Overwriting the JavaOS and replacing it with a boot loader and Linux Kernel. There should also be room for a small FileSystem. This will eliminte any need to send Kernel or basic program information via TFTP or a NFS-Root system.

*drool*
Is it one of the Java clients from the school labs? Or is it similar to the thing client machines in the H&L centre?

Excuse my lack of Java knowledge, but how does this server compare to the x86 architecture performance-wise?

Its not actually a server. Its pretty much a stripped down desktop with Java and a basic X-server installed.
Its used to code Java (obviously) and other Sun based things. They have whole labs of the damned things here in Windsor.
