Doesn't concern many of us, but I'm interested if the same call will be made here in North America.

I figure once you own the piece of hardware, you can do what ever you want with it. It dosen't change the fact that pirated software is still illegal, and the company can reserve the right to limit your use of it's services if you mod your console (like Microsoft and X-Box live).
It's just stupid to have mod chips illegal, I think this is a step in the right direction.

As do I. Its good to see governments standing up to stupid corporate policies.
