Homey V, could ya gimme a quick hand with something? Been off the 'net downloading scene a while. I've got mirc and ircN all set up. I can connect to the servers. The channel thing I think I understand..........so how do I get the download to start? I type this in, but it's a no-go:

/ctcp "botname" xdcc send #(N)

Well, not exactly that (I put in the botname and #, obviously).

Any pointers?

When I did download off of Mirc I was using XDCC Spy or MyDownloader which gave you everything you needed on the clipboard...

Maybe the server I got on was just being a prick then. I'll give a few more some tries.

You should be able to take a look at the main window and mIRC will probably give you some kind of reason why the download won't start.

There isn't a main window anymore. ircN works different than mIRC. The channel says I was kicked (I pressume for not being a regular).

I see, maybe they have some kind of credit system, like you have to upload some to download. Some mIRC servers used to have stuff like that.

Yeah, that might have been it. I dunno. It got p!ssy with me so I went and got Bit Torrent. On a side note, Homey V you wouldn't happen to have a search engine the equivalent of My Downloader for Bit Torrent would ya?

Also, does anyone know a decent server/channel in mIRC for mp3's. Refreshing Dalnet's list right now doesn't result...............well, anything of any value. It's appreciated.

IRC is so screwed up these days that I find it's barely worth connecting to anymore. All the good channels are gone, only the crap is left. Maybe in a few years it will be back to it's former glory.

Then again maybe I'm on the wrong servers, if you find a good one I'd like to know as well.

I'm having fantastic luck with mp3's on Undernet. I haven't given apps, etc. a shot yet. DALnet is dead, though. The only real difference I've noticed now is that the lines are a little longer to download music.

yeah, undernet is pretty good for music, I also have not tried apps or games on it.

The best thing I can find for BitTorrent is http://www.suprnova.org/

It has decent stuff, give it a shot.

Yeah, I have a bunch from there. They're actually pretty good as I've gotten Supertramp - Breakfast in America, Norton 2004, Re-volt for DC, and a few smaller things.


Pontifex (bridge builder 2) is 95% done, but no one else seems to be hosting it

I had pnotifex for a while. I preferred the simplicity of the original myself... Good fun nonetheless.
