Inverted all the way.
I think this poll basically boils down to:
"Did you play flight simulators during your early gaming days or not?"
Well, atleast that's how it is for me, others might have a different experience, I suppose.

the first time I played a game involving a mouse was Quake 3 on someone's computer who was not inverted. I played for about 3 seconds, and said, "this is fucked, can I switch the way this goes up and down?" and I did, and I've been inverted ever since. My brain just thinks that way.

inverted is move mouse up, look down, and vice versa

yes the "Proper way"
Think of an airplane
you push what I would like to call "forward" and not "up", you would look down as you would in an airplane.

Proper where up = down? Say that again to yourself.
Maybe if you actually used a joystick like from a flight sim...............

doesent the word "inverted" ummm say it all anyway. Its not that hard to figure out.
if up is up and down is down then "Inverted" is ass backwards.
