I've been up for 36 hours and everything seems somewhat surreal right now, and looking at the monitor is making my eyes burn. I'll have the post done as soon as possible tomorrow.

I think that in your tired state you missed something. I did indeed transmit the codes, before the battle at hoth.

Ilon - After a second you call Kylin over the comm,

Quote:
Looks like your hole in the asteroid field could be a Corellian Support Frigate, but our friends say that it's about 30 years old so hopefully it won't pose too much of a problem. I'm manning my guns now just in case.

You get a response from Kylin,

Quote:
Roger that, still waiting on species info. I am going to run ahead and see if I trip a trap. If I do, the rest of you High Tail it out of here on the alternate vector. I am sending the 'Old notes' I found on hoth to you over a secure channel.

Your computer display shows that you are receiving two files on a coded frequency. You see Kylin's X-Wing a little ahead of you going straight for the gap in the asteroid field. You get on the intercom,

Quote:
Looks like we might have trouble, I need our two best gunners to get down to the blasters cannons and get them ready for a fight...any volunteers?

You set the Nav somputer to plot a new course out of the system, and two men come into the cockpit.

We should be able to help.

Yeah, you have the codes. By the way, the search function doesn't seem to work for me. I tried to look it up and didn't find it. I'll edit the post.

I am going to continue my conversation with Rava while keeping a very close eye on Garmen, and making sure he stays in his seat, using what ever force necissary.

Ahem, MetaGaming there Nick

Your character would have no reason to keep me in my seat. Actually, since i spent most of the trip improving systems with the blessing of Ilon you would have no grounds whatsoever to detain me.

I have to agree. You'll have to wait until next round to try to stop him from improving the systems. You can keep an eye on him right now, but technically you don't know that he has anything planned until he does it.

If we were playing around a table you would be able to speak back and forth, so I don't have a problem with it during scenes. During rounds the time period is very short and you cannot respond to what people say until the next post.

I hope this clears everything up.

I thought we were still under this system of gameplay? WTF?

We are, but your character can still only react to things that your character would be aware of and normally do.

Your move was MetaGaming because 1. You had no way of knowing what I was doing and thus no reason to restrain me 2. Jedi are supposed to give the benefit of the doubt to people in general.

You can respond to other people's actions in the game, but only if your character is aware of them. All you saw my character do was wander into the cockpit and then sit back down. Hardly grounds to restrain me at all costs. However, If I had walked back into room and announced I was going to hack the defense platform, that would be an entirely different matter. Right now, you could react to Nagta's actions because your character can easily see them. Remember, Your character sees what Shawn tells you it sees, and only that, so your moves need to be made according to that.

Okay, I'm going to try to clear up the posting situation.

You can post same-round responses to conversations, allowing you to plan your actions together. That was the idea behind responding to posts in the same round. This also works in terms of cooperating to perform an action (lifting a small damaged speeder onto a rock so that you can work on the repulsorlifts).

The other way that you can respond during the same post is in response to a life-threatening action, to help another character, or save yourself from something another character is doing (also life-threatening).

In this case, you didn't have just cause to restrain Garmen, because you didn't know that he was going to do anything (he had been working on the ship for the entire trip, and using the data port to slice the Holonet, and so was not behaving suspiciously). However, now that you have seen him do something you may get involved.

In short, you can respond to what people say in a post, and if they announce their actions you can respond to their actions. If they do not announce what they will be doing you must wait until the next round to respond, unless they are specifically interacting with you, or pose an immediate danger (shooting/attacking you, etc).

If you are unsure when you are posting, PM me with your post and I will let you know if there are any problems.

The point of this is that I don't want the characters to hamper each other's actions.

I will not be posting tonight. There have only been two responses, and I am not going to move for 7 of nine people. I will do the next post on December 22, the day after my last exam. Hopefully everyone will have posted within the next 11 days.

Ok, so I missed the 22nd. I haven't had the chance to post in the last while, so I'm letting everyone know that I will post tomorrow night. After that the posting will resume its normal routine.
