Re: Physical Technical Specifications
Orings and their ideal applications:
http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/palm ... lazer.htmlIt depends on where the seal is and or what type of gas. We use a mix of compounds in our seal kits to try to increase the longevity. We try to use viton on any low pressure static orings.
High pressure CO2 will tear up 70D buna. 90D buna will be more durable but may cause too much drag in some applications.
So,, any of the regulator/valve parts should use urethane seals to combat explosive decompression and increase consistency.
If you are strictly HPA, Then buna will be ok.
Urethane will last 5-8 years and has the lowest drag coefficient.
Buna/ Viton will last 15+ plus years as a static oring but... Buna/viton tends to wear out faster on moving parts.
Due to friction issues, Buna will not work in a 4 way.
The sky is the limit with orings. You pretty much get what you pay for. Some fancy orings cost as much at $50 each and will last 30+ years. The list below is pretty much sorted by price.
COPY PASTA BELOW!
Buna-N O-Rings
Used in oil applications.
Viton® Fluoroelastomer O-Rings
Resists chemicals and oil.
Silicone O-Rings
Good resistance to low and high temperatures.
EPDM O-Rings
Water and steam resistant.
O-Rings for Straight Thread Tube Fittings
Also known as boss O-rings, use these as replacement O-rings for SAE high-pressure straight thread tube fittings.
Hard O-Rings
Increased hardness provides enhanced abrasion resistance and makes these O-rings better suited for higher pressure applications.
Soft Buna-N O-Rings
You'll soften up to these O-rings—they have a durometer hardness of A50, giving them better sealability.
Brown Viton® Fluoroelastomer O-Rings
With the same excellent chemical and oil resistance as Viton® fluoroelastomer O-rings, these O-rings are also brown for easier material identification.
Mil. Spec. O-Rings
Designed to meet stringent military specifications.
FDA-Compliant, NSF-Certified, and UL-Recognized O-Rings
Working with food, water, or gas? We have the O-rings for you. All material meets ASTM D2000/SAE J200.
High-Temperature Buna-N O-Rings
Also known as HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber), this material is saturated with hydrogen to improve resistance to heat and ozone.
Neoprene O-Rings
When you need ozone resistance and Freon-12 compatibility, choose these neoprene O-rings.
Polyurethane O-Rings
O-rings stand up to abrasion and tearing.
Aflas O-Rings
Aflas O-rings offer excellent chemical, heat, electrical, and oil resistance.
Hard PTFE O-Rings
In addition to superior lubricity, these O-rings have a durometer hardness of D55 and excellent temperature and chemical resistance.
Compressible FEP-Encapsulated O-Rings
A pliable FEP exterior combined with a resilient rubber core gives these O-rings excellent compressibility.
Kalrez Perfluoroelastomer O-Rings
Combines the resilience and sealing force of an elastomer with excellent chemical and temperature resistance similar to that of PTFE.

Re: Physical Technical Specifications
Great video from Simon showing how 30bps is about the most you can expect from an almost perfect setup. 17-23bps being far more likely:
