As long as Bob has everything running smoothly we should just leave it to him.
Extra servers will just split people into smaller games, which can be a real problem with a group as small as ours. If he asks for help we can give it too him but until that time I say we let him work on his own, things will go faster that way.

BUT..............

Bob has never had things run 100% smooth. Example last lan he didn't have more then a quake 3 server going.

That is becasue all people wanted to play was battlefield, and at the time there was no BF42 serverThis has now changed however.

I did have an SoF2 Server working, but agian the Gold Patch had yet to be relesed for Linux, also now changed.

I belive at this time that the 3 servers I have will be sufficient for all our needs. This however is not a certanty since it has yet to be decided what games will be played. This is the precise reason that this thread had been lock. We cannot yet know what will be required.

But 9 processors and 150gig's of SCSI + 100Gig's of IDE and 2.5 Gig's of RAM seams over kill.

Also point, the Readneck Beatdown has allways been modeled after QuakeCON. The ultimit goal has allways been the full implimentation of QuakeCON Standards

KalNet Thanks you for applying to Co-Admin Redneck Beatdown 2003. KalNet Staff and the Organizers of the Redneck Beatdown carefully discussed your offer. However at this time it has been determined that your services are not required. If in the future this changes you will be duly notified. Thank you for your time.

I think that atleast for the next Lan, Bob won't stop you from running your servers if you really want to have them up. They just won't be official lan servers.

Well, Bob does love teh Linux. Then again, what is the point of having both Windows and Linux servers, as long as the Linux ones are working fine.

Because you have someone that is great at doing server stuff and won't even let him help.

It's not because they are Windows severs. The fact that they are windows servers is why i said not at this time. Eg. If i get tired of pissing around with UT2K3's craptacular DedServer, I might get you to do that. Or more likely I find lots of bugs in DICES half ass atempt at a DedServer, I'll have you do that.

I locked the thread earlier so that I could figure these things out. But you seamed to want the current answer, which is we have no need for more servers!

Also, co-admin... bad title. I subscribe to the though of one head... sorry. Second in charge, yes that would be acceptable, if needed.

Long and Short, wait until we figure things out, the damn party is not for 5 months!
