Yeah, we'd have to calc what the max force per area allowable is. I presume we'd use a paintball at 285fps as the reference point?

Removal of compression rings or a regulator/dump tank seem to be the best bets to control velocity. I imagine a longer tube would also slow it down a bit. Good luck adding/cutting it on the fly, though. If one couldn't "chrono" it in, maybe it would only be allowed to be a mortar? Ie. max speed would be gravity freefall.

I think the 10 foot rule is pretty good,
Personally I am not going to waste a rocket if they are that close anyway lol.

Have you tested its ballistic range?

Not yet. We can do long range testing on Saturday.

Ballpark-wise, what was the cost on each launcher? Thanks.

About $20 if you already have the PVC primer and cement. they are about $3 each.

That's probably a little conservative if you include the paint and what not. Possibly more like $30.

If you want to get really serious about your own paint:

Code: Select all

Component__________________________________Percent by Weight
Polyoxyethylene (20) sorbitol monolaureate    94-99%
Coloured pigment                              0.5-5%
Suspending agent                              0.3-3%
antifoam agent                                0.05-0.80%

Keep in mind that's Nelson paint so it will be a b!tch to clean.

Hand Grenade patents:

Tipmmann "Bouncy Betty" (stays true to KISS principle):

Process and slingshot launcher:

Paintball mine (looks more like a mine than grenade to me):

Re-usable grenade (shows promise):

Grenade with micro-processor:

Good ideas to use as long as you don't sell them.

Paint is optional, and it's something people might already have.

Sidenote:

I believe Tippmann's claim to the Squadbuster / "Bouncy Betty" grenade has expired.

http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Pars ... %2F4932672

It was filed in 1989.

I believe it's a 20 year patent as per this:

Nerf "torpedoes" with an approximate 2.75" to 3" diameter are available at the Dollarama in Woodstock for $2. They have a rubbery
"football" front and 3 fins mount off a styrofoam tube back.
