Point, game is much better then HL2, more challenging

Update your drivers (without the Control Centre) and try this:
Shortcut target
"<path>\quake4.exe" +seta r_renderer "ARB"
If "ARB" doesnt work change it into ARB2 of R200. That should work. ARB2 is Directx9, but ARB is the Directx8 path for Doom 3.

for all you non-greeners out there, this imporved my FPS in-game from 20-30 to 50-60

and it did fix the green problem .. looks good now

not really hideous... just slow sometimes
Call fo Duty 2 with Direct X 9 seemed fine...
