Strunt, the post is about Elite Force. And, quite frankly, it's single player kicks the @$$ of BOTH UT2k3 and Quake 3.

Though, Dempsey, there's an immense difference between Quake 3 and Quake. Calling one the same as the other is an insult to everyone here on so many levels. You're gonna have to adapt to life after 1996 and realize that there are more than 1 Quake games. Yes, we both agree that computer gaming reached it zenith that year. But we too, must learn to live with blind.

Don't let your DNF frustrations manifest itself in this way :mrgreen:

It's been so long that I'm even interested to see how it turns out.

Quake/frag/unreal (?? well, at least the quake series wins in this regard) on!

So lemme get this straight. You're saying that the SINGLE player (only single player here, people) of UT2k3 is better than the SINGLE player of Elite Force, Dempsey?

Im not going that far. The Singplayer of EF was way better than UT2k3's and Q3's. Thats to be assumed since it was a real SP game whereas the other two were just training for deathmatch.

Sorry Im saying that quake 3, in general, sucks more than both elite force and ut2k3, not just the single play.

And I really want DNF! But figure that, when they first started out techonolgy was changing. They switched engines twice (quake 2, unreal, unreal tourney) and I wouldnt doubt it if they swithced again to Unreal 2 engine. They set out to make the best game possible and so they have been playin the graphics game. Since they started out story has become a huge thing in games, not some story they put in the menu like commander keen. Cool things have been done in many games, these have to be out done. Mulitplayer is a huge thing these days, and I bet making the capture the babe mode is tough with one hand on the joystick. In summary, I WANT DNF!

While I'm not gonna get overtly into a numbers game, 3629 players at this moment in time has got to say something. Yes, I realize that also at this moment 4518 players are playing UT2k3, but look at how much newer it is (compared to 1804 players playing UT the game released at the same time as Q3. Not to mention, remember, how many people were playing Tribes 2 when it came out? Yeah, the numbers dropped like a stone after time). If yer still set on numbers (ie. more people are playing are playing UT2k3 for example), then I'm gonna whip out the CS numbers (and none here would say it's betters so please don't make me bring that one up). Basically, I'm NOT saying the most numbers make a game the better game. However, I'm saying that quite a few people still believe the game known as Q3 is a valid form of fun.

On a related note, I don't really understand the polarity the arguements are taking. To me, quite frankly, it's just foolish. For example, I currently believe that AMD processors are a better deal than Intel ones. But ya know what? If Intel started selling 3 gig cpu's for $5 and AMD didn't follow suit, I'd have an Intel chip in my system. Also, I currently believe that Ati has better video cards. But my system will eventually have both Nvidia and Ati cards in it. I'm all for competition here people. Companies don't get my guaranteed loyalty money--they have to earn my cash. Name brand, schmame brand. I'm a poor university student who buys his no name food, beats up bums for their clothes........oh wait, I've said too much :mrgreen:

It would be the same as Dempsey saying that he's only gonna play 3DRealms games. I don't even need to comment on this for everyone here to see the humor in that statement. Also, it would be like us only playing a certain genre. We most definitely have our favourites, but have to admit to liking other ones.

Basically, I'm gonna conclude with the EXACT SAME conclusion I did the last time we had this discussion (which everyone here has all ready forgotten it seems). Play them both. Ya wanna DM change? Boot up UT2k3. Mods for me? Q3 (because, in all honesty, as of this moment in time there is simply no contest mod-wise). I don't understand the difficulty here people. Not to mention, I'm helping to set up the servers so ga je vader pijpen (don't ask yer Dad what it means Dempsey. If ya really wanna know........private message me........trust me, he'll look at ya REAL funny........and for further reference, whenever I use Dutch and ya wanna know the meaning, private message me..........let's just say that I've met some Germanic speaking engineers and I'm learning a new language.........well, at least the gutter part of it

I think we all want DNF. I agree that they do have a lot more to live up to. But there comes a point where one just has to say "It's done" and get it out the door. They are a business after all. There's always gonna be better looking stuff out there. But that's not always the most important thing. Many reviews on the 'net jokingly called Unreal II a demo for the Unreal engine. No one here would argue that BF1942 is the best looking game, but it's a LOT of fun to play, right? Basically, they've had it in development so long that no matter how good it is, there's gonna be a backlash. Unfortunately, this also happened to Unreal II and will probably happen to Doom III. We're so fickle

I never disqualified Quake 3 as a valid form of fun. I never even mentioned fun, or numbers for that matter. I enjoy Quake 3, and Ut2k3. I personally enjoy the latter more than the former, but I still enjoy them. I agree, modwise, quake 3 has the upper hand, I prefer UT deathmatch to quake 3 thats all. As for hardware. Good god do I ever agree. At this time, ATI is whalloping Nvidia in the value and midrange and performance sectors, price, performance and feature wise (not to mention availability). Hence the Radeon 9500pro in my system. I buy Athlon because they offer a better price/performance ratio. I too am a poor university student that buys cheap food and steals from hobos.....

As for your vulgarity... FOR SHAME!!! I would never use such words.... that much.....

If we play rocket arena, I'm all for quake 3. If the idiots who made tribes 2 had bothered to finish it before shipping, it probably would have a larger following. Heck, I'd play it, it looks like a lot of fun. Here's hoping on Tribes 3. And I know that this debate is pretty much pointless, both games have their good points etc, but its fun to do anyways.

Thanks Jason. Some of the shots are new to me. I have the demo now but man it runs crappy. It's playable until some enemies show up.
