Could you not use a VPN tunnel to eliminate the need for a BN Emulator?

WC3 does not provide direct IP connection functionality. I'm not so sure it could find a game over a VPN.

Does a VPN not emulate a LAN, thus the normal game find should work? Thumperup, do tells us, you have used one before. I speek from theory alone.

you are infact correct Bob.

In therory we should all be on a VPN for best possible pings to our own servers. But it isn't a perfect world and admins get lazy too.

LOL :P

That and my Internet connection is already taxed so having a VPN with the rest of you or just Gray would bring it to a crawl.

game servers, teamspeak, message board.

I had to limit the amount of players in the game servers because it got soo bad that I couldn't even view web pages.

Wired, I used to get 14 people in one and 4 in the other plus the teamspeak and a few other toys with no problems.

They must be sticklers for bandwidth there!

I see no reason to buy Warcraft III... Its not an overly riveting game, and I wouldnt buy it simply to be able to occasionally play tower defense. Blizzard pulls shit like this all the time. I will not pay $60+ for a year old game simply to play on proprietary servers.

You are being a very large hypocrite by suggesting he buy the game for only online play, and you arent posting helpful information. You could have said once, buy the game as an option, and left it at that.

I dont mean to lecture, but you, like everyone else on this board, own a burned or pirated copy of a game because they either cant afford to or dont want to pay for it. Dont play all high and mighty simply because you felt it was worth buying.

how am i being a hypocrite?
I own the game, i own all the games I play online.

this is about online game play right?

While Pimpin Matt has a point about buying the game, I think he's also missing the point Homey J made about Blizzard's draconian-like grip over Battlenet. If Homey J and I want to play a Blizzard game we shouldn't have to connect to Battlenet.

Buy the game?

Ok, then I'll use Half-Life as an example. Both of us bought legit copies (I bought mine from E.B. and I bought Homey J's copy from Futureshop.........so I know for a fact we both legally own it). If I want to play Homey J 1 vs. 1 I don't think I should have to download Steam (which Valve is moving towards). Valve doesn't have a right to say how we use their product after we buy it. We could burn it, for example, and they wouldn't be able to say anything. We would be completely fine and legit trying to set up a VPN for Half-Life (if that's even possible).

Should TSB buy the game? Prolly. Should you keep harping about it? Prolly not.

My $.02

Yes matt you are missing the point entirely

What he is asking for is Battle.net thing What if he wants to play starcraft or something, but doesn't want blizzards servers.

Stop bitching about people not buying the game. WC3 is a crappy game besides tower defence which is all he wants to do.

So here is my thought to you STFU
