So he parlayed all the his descriptive paragraphs about the environment--too bad that remaining 20% was the plot.

The tree, yes, this tree was an incredible tree. It rose up high and mighting with its dripline a canopy for the creatures that inhabited it. On the tree there was a weather-scruffed sign. It pointed nowhere, but I felt I must describe it as I needed some filler to make you think you were buying a book of immense value. Stay tuned while I describe the rest of my backyard and then get to the first point of the plot in 100 pages.
