is there anyways I can try to get Nik/KA to stand down??
Ka is very stubborn, and always thinks his ideas are the best. When confronted, he can become violent, but his Jedi companion Rava tries his best to keep Ka under control

.. i dont think there is becuase I am outside of the ship but I would have hurd some thing about
a cheating pirate
so if I re enter the ship I could try to get KA to stand down seeing as he is just trying to expose the cheater

or i could see what is going to happen pull my saber and try to block ka saber then say something like STOP cant you see what is going on he is just trying to expose what is going on

guys tell me what to do .. or what you think and I will post ASAP (ALSO I dont wanna meta game but if it help I am up for anything..)

also if need be I would be willing to use a force point or ch point to make sure i dont miss KA saber and stop him in time (also I am not 100% sure if it would be meta gaming but I would want to check on everyone after getting people off the ship seeing as how KA had his saber drawn and Nagta was holding the guy upside down in not the best manner)

just trying to help

Someone could attempt to stun Ka, or Nagta, but it would have to be next round, after the full blown fight has begun.

As for the darkside points, I would give and additional point for any innocent bystanders that are harmed, but Ka's action actively puts the pirate in a position of harm, as he is/was being held in front of Nagta. I'll think over the idea of multiple points, and make the decision when the time comes, based on the result. As I said, Nagta has been close to getting a darkside point because of who he is, and I will give him one if an innocent is harmed.

Up to this point, the only things that Nagta has done are: 1) shove someone, 2) grab the Pirate and hold him of the ground with some shaking for effect. In any case, if an innocent bystander is harmed, Nagta too gets a darkside point.

This hasn't been an easy decision, as there are mitigating factors for both sides, but in the end the violence is going to prove self-destructive in one way or another.

I just wanted to clarify a few things as far as the rules go since combat can get pretty complicated somtimes. I'm not making any kind of a commentary about the game, and keep in mind that any decison about the rules and how to apply them is ultimately up to Samurai.

Basically, several people advised me that they would like some insite into how difficulty would be determined in a melee combat situation.

The short answer is that it is determined in the same way as a ranged combat situation. Every weapon in the game has a difficulty number associated with it based on the range at which it is used. For melee weapons there is only one difficulty, as they are only used at one range - close. This difficulty number is the one that the attacking character must beat in order to hit another with the weapon if the defending character does not use a "reaction skill".
Often the defending character will choose to use a reaction skill (such as dodge) in a combat situation. In this case the defending character rolls their reaction skill and this is the new difficulty that the attacking character must beat, effectivly replacing the weapon's own difficulty number. Sometimes this new number is actually lower than the weapon's own difficulty, but as the manual says - often a bad dodge can place you closer to the line of fire.
In a rare situation, if the defending character has made no other moves this round (and plans to make no more), they can perform a full dodge. In this case the difficulty the attacker must beat is the characters's dodge roll (or melee parry, as the case may be) plus the weapon difficulty.

That about sums it up. Of course there is always room for interpretation in the rules and the GM can add or subtract difficulty based on the situation at hand (ie. obsticals, terrain, confined spaces...etc)

I made a mistake with Nick's roll. He gets his Sense dice added to his Lightsaber skill, not control, and I forgot the difficulty for the called shot. I am editing the post to reflect the new values. Nick did not state that he was adding or subtracting Control dice for his lightsaber's damage, so I am counting it as the standard 5D (I said to let me know if he didn't understand all of the rules involved).

As for the lightsaber combat, and the action penalties, I have given both Rava and Ka an ability to activate the power without the penalty. This means that there is no penalty for activating the powers involved individually, but there is a -1D penalty to the attack because it is done while the power is up.

The called shot (attacking Nagta's hand/arm), the rules say, requires that an extra 4D is to be added to the difficulty.

Nick therefore gets 6D+2D for lightsaber combat, x2 for a force point, -1D for multiple (2) actions = 15D.

The difficulty of the attack is 20, +4D for called shot.

If Steve dodges, but does nothing else, then his dodge is added to the difficulty. If he dodges and performs another action, he will have to beat Nick's roll without modifiers.

so let me see if i get this correctly if i full dodge i get the difficulty (45) added to my 6D dex?
so then in theory i need to roll 14 so that i am unharmed?

(i am going to do a full dodge i'm just checking to see if i need to use a force/char point to survive this)

You are correct, but you could not take any further actions this round.

I am extremely confused. If Nagta drops the man he is holding and then attempts a dodge, how does he get a full dodge? Dropping the man must count for an action, am I wrong?

Certain "actions" do not really count as actions. For instance, saying a few words. Another action that is done without a penalty is moving up to ten meters (or your character's move rating). Nagta simply had to open his hand to drop the man, so I did not count it as an action. You might note that I did not count activating your lightsaber as an action, although the rules do allow for that.

Nagta's dropping of the pirate would be considered a "Free" action since it required no effort or significant concentration.

Other such "free"actions would be, like Sean Said, saying a few words, dropping a weapon, rolling perception to determine initiative, taking a quick look around the room, grabbing something small off a counter within reach (assuming you arent in combat), making a strenght roll to resist damage in combat, making a control or perception roll to resist to resist the effects of the force.

There are also actions which are considered "Non-Roll actions"

These include relading a weapon, retrieving basic info from a datapad, piloting a vehicle slowly in a moderate or easy situation, or any action which requires alot of concentration but doesnt need a skill roll.

Hope that clears matters up.

I'll give the last few people until tomorrow afternoon. Bob PM'd me and asked a question about his next action, so I figure he intends to post soon. I will wait until about 3:00 tomorrow, but no later.

"your move is limited by the combat round" I take this means that you will continue to move my character as dictated by my last post. Basicaly I don't have to post until I either get thourgh the check point, or detanied?
