I want to go see it when it comes out..

Lewis' timeless adventure follows the exploits of the four Pevensie siblings - Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter - in World War II England who enter the world of Narnia through a magical wardrobe while playing a game of 'hide-and-seek' in the rural country home of an elderly professor. Once there, the children discover a charming, peaceful land inhabited by talking beasts, dwarfs, fauns, centaurs and giants that has become a world cursed to eternal winter by the evil White Witch, Jadis. Under the guidance of a nobel and mystical ruler, the lion Aslan, the children fight to overcome the White Witch's powerful hold over Narnia in a spectacular, climactic battle that will free Narnia from Jadis' icy spell forever.

the movie was not to bad, a little predictable. Also I felt that the movie moved to fast through the story, they seamed to be rushing to each event. Mind you, I have never read the story so I do not know if this haste is accurate to the book or not.

I feel that they could have do a lot more with the story if they had gone into more depths, maybe break it into 2 or 3 movies instead of pushing it into one film. Oh well, maybe I have just been spoiled by LOTR.

As I side note, the trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean 2 was awesome!

well I actually have read the books a few times but I have yet to see the movie but I would be inclined to agree with Kal on this one, it is probably to rushed because the books were a bit more drawn out

It's only predictable to you cuz you've heard the story the last 20 years in church you goof :lol:

Not to mention it is a kid's tale (I mean, what were you like during Sleeping Beauty?

"Get the f00k outta here! She wakes up? And marries the prince? Well, that's predictable."

On top of that, it is a Disney movie.)

The movie, pretty much, followed the book to the best of my memory. The only differences I can think of off the top of my head are:

-you never meet the professor in the book (not too sure on this one, but pretty certain)
-all the kids saw the wardrobe at first....Lucy goes through and then pops out with the other kids only a few feet outside (time difference, etc.)
-they don't run due to breaking something.......one of the servants is showing people around and they're running from them (they were told to stay outta the way)
-the kids don't go outside the White Witch's castle.....Mr. Beaver just tells them that Edmund has gone to her and that they should head out
-it wasn't totally clear to me that the kids first met Aslan at the stone table in the movie...........though, I might have been distracted by other things when I was watching the movie (funny story for later)
-I can't remember whether Aslan flew back with the kids or not after his resurrection

That's about all I can remember from the movie and book right now.

The book was only about 200-250 pages if I remember right. Not too hard to draw it out (unlike the 400 pages per book of LOTR)

Now every successful media outing with remote Judeo-Christian themes is part of the Passion of the Christ? That movie actually broke down a lot of barriers that nobody thought would:

-first world launched movie to be done so without major studio backing. Newmarket films isn't exactly a startup (Donnie Darko and Memento are their 2 biggies), but they're not exactly Universal. The indie film bunch started blowing their loads everywhere when they saw that they could go world-wide without big studio backing

-it opened the Middle Eastern market to Western films. While studios make oodles of cash off of movies, there are still the untapped markets of the Middle East and Africa. The latter moreso needs economic development before they can expand there. The former usually disallows Western films as they don't line up with the Koran. The Passion, financially, did very well in the Middle East. So why was it even allowed to be released there? Remember the controversy over the Jews hating the movie? For the most part, whatever the Jews hate, the Muslims love. So Saudia Arabia, Iran, and Iraq allowed the movie to be shown. The reaction to the movie was actually quite unexpected.

However, movies with Christian themes have been popular far before the Passion. Besides, you can take joy in the fact that the Dark Side gets one of the kids in the end. Susan loses interest in Narnia in the Last Battle (if I remember right).

I'd hardly call the Lion dying to save the world, and being ressurected by the power of love a "remotely Judeo-Christian theme". If anything its Blatantly judeo-christian.

I personally hated the books as a kid, and had no desire to see the movies and felt that a nice joke at the expense of the movie wouldn't harm anyone.

Also, I wasnt attempting to insult TPotC either, merely using its name as a joke.

Though, you can thank J.R.R. Tolkien for the "blantant" (when I asked the chick I went with to see the movie if it reminded her of anything her answer was.........Harry Potter......apparently, it's only obvious to us) Christian themes.
